Hydro Jetting in Elgin

A century of gunk, washed out with care.

Elgin’s oldest drain lines carry buildup with actual history — and washing it out takes judgment as much as pressure. We scope first, set the pressure to what the old pipe can take, and prove the clean on camera.

Historic buildup, old clay & judgment

Old lines get clean too — at their own pressure.

The question with Elgin’s century lines isn’t whether they need cleaning — it’s how much pressure their era can take. That answer comes from a camera, not a guess.
“How gentle can high pressure possibly be?”
Gentler than the name suggests — pressure is a dial, not a switch. Old clay in sound condition takes a moderate setting comfortably; the nozzle choice spreads the force; and technique keeps the energy on the buildup instead of the pipe. Think firm scrub versus power blast. The exam picks the setting, and yours will match your pipe.

Before we start

“The buildup came back within months.”
Fast returns mean the last cleaning only skimmed — old lines with rough spots re-collect quickly when the walls stay coated. Elgin’s vintage pipes are prone to exactly this. A true wash takes the walls to bare, and bare walls collect slowly, which is the whole difference.
“What if the jet finds a weak spot?”
Then finding it was a favor — better a controlled discovery now than a collapse during a holiday. The exam usually spots weakness before the wash does, and flagged sections get worked around or treated separately. Either way, you learn your line’s true condition, which old pipe rarely offers voluntarily.

How it works

A century of buildup, removed a careful layer at a time.

Elgin’s oldest lines get jetting as craftsmanship — pressure matched to era, progress watched on camera, and the pipe’s dignity intact at the end.
  1. The house's era, first.

A build date — even approximate — tells us what pipe generations we're likely meeting and what pressure conversation the visit should start with.

  2. The era exam.

The camera identifies the materials and their condition, joint by joint — the setting gets chosen from evidence, and you're at the monitor while it happens.

  3. Craftsmanship, priced like work.

The careful version costs what the quote says — one written Elgin number for exam, wash, and proof, held regardless of what the century deposited.

  4. Clean walls, intact history.

The after-pass shows both achievements — buildup gone, old pipe unharmed — recorded for the house's growing file.
