Pipe lining, bursting & saved driveways

The trench was the expensive part.
So we got rid of it.

Half the cost of a traditional sewer replacement was never the pipe — it was the excavation, the broken concrete, and the landscaping that took five years to grow back. Trenchless attacks that half.

The camera decides, not sales

“Everyone who quotes me wants to trench the whole yard.”

Get the footage before you accept that. Lining rebuilds cracked or root-damaged pipe from the inside; bursting replaces it entirely along the same path — both through access pits instead of a trench. Whether your line qualifies is a camera question, and we answer it on a screen you can see.

Before we start

“The bad section runs under my driveway.”

This is the situation trenchless was invented for. The liner or the bursting head travels under the concrete; the driveway never knows. Compare that with cut, excavate, backfill, and repour — the concrete alone changes the math. We quote both so you can see the difference.

“Is lining as good as new pipe, or a Band-Aid?”

A properly installed liner is a structural pipe inside your pipe — jointless, sealed against roots, rated in decades. It isn’t right for everything: collapsed sections and bad grade need real replacement, and lining a pipe that needed bursting is how Band-Aid stories start. The camera sorts your line into the right column.

How it works

Trenchless when it fits —
and a straight no when it doesn't.

The method should match the pipe, not the marketing. The camera makes that call in twenty minutes.

  1. An expert picks up.

Read us your camera report or the quotes you've collected. We'll tell you on the phone whether trenchless sounds plausible for your line.

  2. The camera issues the verdict.

Condition, grade, and collapse-or-not decide whether lining, bursting, or open repair fits. You watch the screen — the verdict comes with footage, not adjectives.

  3. Every option, priced in writing.

Lining, bursting, and the open-trench comparison, each with its price and its footprint on your yard. The number doesn't move once you've signed it.

  4. Done in a day or two, proven on camera.

Most trenchless jobs wrap in one to two days. The final pass shows the new pipe end to end, and you keep the footage with the warranty.

STRAIGHT TALK

Sometimes the dig is the right call

Collapsed pipe and bad grade can’t be fixed from the inside. When open repair is what your line needs, that’s the quote you get — from a shop that does both.

Straight answers

The questions
you might be asking

What do trenchless repairs actually cost?

Depends on the length, the method, and the access your line offers — which is why the camera pass comes first. The honest ranges:

Camera inspection & locate (free with service)

$XXX – $XXX

Sectional (spot) lining

$XXX – $XXX

Full-length lining, per foot

$XXX – $XXX

Pipe bursting replacement, per foot

$XXX – $XXX

A resin-saturated sleeve is pulled or inverted into the cleaned pipe, inflated against the walls, and cured in place — heat, steam, or UV depending on the system. What comes out the other side of that cure is a smooth, jointless structural pipe inside the old one, sealed at the cracks and joints roots used as doors. One access point, usually one day, and the old pipe becomes the mold instead of the problem.

Bursting pulls a splitting head through the old line, breaking it outward into the soil while towing a brand-new pipe into the space behind it — full replacement along the same path, through a pit at each end. It’s the answer when the host pipe is too far gone to hold a liner: crushed sections, severe breaks, pipe that’s lost its shape. Lining renews a pipe; bursting replaces one. The footage says which yours needs.

Three deal-breakers, roughly: a full collapse the equipment can’t pass or follow, a line with significant grade problems (a liner faithfully reproduces the sag it’s installed into), and certain tight-access or tie-in situations where the economics stop making sense. Some lines take a hybrid — dig the one collapsed section, line the rest. If yours is in the can’t column, you’ll hear it from us with the footage, not after a deposit.

Cured-in-place liners are rated for fifty years, and the engineering behind that number is solid — jointless pipe with nothing for roots to re-enter. The honest asterisk: that lifespan assumes proper installation in a suitable host pipe, which is exactly why we camera before and after and hand you both passes. A liner rushed into the wrong pipe is where the horror stories come from, and it’s avoidable with eyes.

Per foot of pipe, trenchless and excavation often land closer than people expect. The gap opens on everything around the pipe: no concrete demolition, no driveway repour, no landscaping rebuild, no week of open trench. Under grass with nothing in the way, digging sometimes wins on price and we’ll say so. Under hardscape, mature landscaping, or anything you’d grieve — trenchless usually wins by the width of the restoration bill.

A liner does take a small fraction of the diameter — and then gives most of it back. The cured surface is far smoother than sixty-year-old clay or scaled cast iron, so flow typically improves despite the slightly smaller bore. Jointless walls also mean no snag points for paper and roots. Capacity problems from lining are a non-issue in a properly sized residential lateral, and we’ll confirm yours is one before recommending it.

Still comparing methods?

Read us your camera report. We’ll tell you which options your line supports — before anyone gets in a truck.
