Cody is the best plumber around, highly recommend. Very trustworthy!!
Old clay lines, big parkway trees, and heavy spring rain — Chicagoland sewers earn their reputation. Some lines need rodding once ever; some earn a spot on the calendar. Our job is knowing which is which.
“I get my line rodded every year. Old house, old trees.”
Smart — as long as the interval is based on your line and not just habit. We rod it, note what the cutter brings back, and tell you whether yearly is right, overkill, or not enough. Maintenance should fit the pipe, not the tradition.

Before we start
“The line’s slow again and the last guy was here six months ago.”
Six months is a short leash. Either the cutter didn’t take the blockage down to the pipe wall, or something structural — roots, a sag, a bad joint — is rebuilding it fast. The camera tells us which, and it changes what you should pay for next.
“I just need it rodded today. What’s it cost?”
A flat price on the phone, a truck with the big machine, and a line open by this evening — that’s the visit. No mystery charges when the cable comes out dirty. If we see something worth a second look, we’ll say it once and leave the decision with you.
How it works
A quick punch-through gets the water moving and the truck gone. Cutting the line clean is what buys you the year.
Describe the symptoms or just book the maintenance visit. Either way you get a flat price on the phone — not a range that grows in the driveway.
Through the cleanout with a full-size machine and the right cutter head — down to the city connection, not just past the first soft spot.
A pass down the cleared line shows what was building up and what shape the pipe is in. You watch, and you keep the footage.
Based on what came out and what the camera saw: yearly, every other year, or “call us if anything changes.” Maintenance sized to your line, not our schedule.
Tell us when it was last rodded and how the drains act in heavy rain. We’ll tell you if it’s time or if you’re fine.
Our Standard
Whether it’s an emergency clear at midnight or the maintenance visit you book every spring, you get the same straight answer and the same upfront price.
We read what the cutter brings back
Roots, grease, scale, or paper — what’s on the cable head tells the story, and the camera confirms it. You get the plain-English version.
Camera inspection free with service
Some lines don’t need yearly
If your line runs clean, we’ll stretch the interval and say so. Selling rodding to a healthy sewer is how this trade got its reputation.
We’ll tell you when it can wait
The number doesn’t move
Flat-rate rodding quoted on the phone — the number doesn’t grow when the cable comes out dirty.

Through the cleanout, not your bathroom
With outside access, the mess stays outside. No cleanout? We’ll work through what you have — and show you the numbers on adding one.
Cleanout installs quoted separately
You keep the video
Footage and a written report — what insurers and real estate attorneys ask for.

Straight answers
Depends on access and what the line turns out to need — which is why the price comes before the truck. The honest ranges:
Main line rodding, via cleanout
$XXX – $XXX
Camera pass after rodding (free with service)
$XXX – $XXX
Rodding without cleanout access
$XXX – $XXX
Hydro jetting, if the line needs more
$XXX – $XXX
There’s no universal schedule — there’s your line’s schedule. A newer PVC run may never need it; a clay line under mature trees might earn an annual date. The camera pass after a rodding is what sets it: light root fuzz at one joint says every couple of years, a heavy mat says yearly and points at a repair worth pricing. We’d rather give you a real interval than a subscription.
Rodding drives a rotating cable with a cutter through the blockage — it’s the workhorse: fast, effective, right for most clogs and root intrusions. Jetting scours the pipe walls clean with high-pressure water — right for grease, scale, and lines that rebuild fast. Rodding opens the line; jetting resets it. When your line would be better served by the jetter, we’ll say so and show you why on camera.
A shrinking interval is the line telling you the problem is structural. Roots regrow faster as the entry widens, a sag collects a little more each cycle, scale keeps narrowing the bore. Rodding treats the symptom on a loop while the cause compounds. The camera pass prices the exit: fix the joint, jet the scale, or correct the sag — and rodding goes back to being rare.
For the right line, yes — it’s the difference between a scheduled afternoon visit and sewage on the basement floor during a holiday weekend. The math is simple: a planned rodding costs less than an emergency one and infinitely less than the cleanup. For a line with no history and no risk factors, save the money — we’ll tell you which kind you own after one look at the footage.
Done right, no — clay handles rodding fine, and it’s been the standard maintenance for these lines for generations. The risk shows up when someone runs an oversized cutter blind through pipe that’s already cracked or collapsing. That’s why anything suspicious on the cable — mud, gravel, repeated snags — stops the machine and starts the camera. Clearing a line shouldn’t be a gamble on its condition.
Watch what goes down: no grease in the kitchen, no “flushable” wipes anywhere, and go easy on the garbage disposal if the line has a history. In heavy rain, note anything unusual — gurgling or a slow floor drain mid-storm is your early warning. And keep the cleanout findable. Nothing on that list costs a dollar, and together they stretch every interval.
Tell us the line’s history and what it’s doing. We’ll tell you whether it’s time — before anyone gets in a truck.
