Cody is the best plumber around, highly recommend. Very trustworthy!!
Every gas job at our shop ends the same way: a pressure test that proves the system holds, and paperwork that says so. That isn’t caution theater — it’s the job.
“I smell gas near the stove sometimes.”
A faint smell at one appliance is often a fitting or valve weeping — small today, not worth gambling on tomorrow. We test the line, find the exact joint with detection equipment, and fix it properly. Strong smell or hissing? Out of the house first, utility second, us third.

Before we start
“I’m adding a gas range and need a line run to it.”
New runs are sized, not just routed — every appliance downstream changes the math on pipe diameter. We size the system for everything you’re running, pull the permit, and pressure-test before the appliance ever connects.
“My home inspection flagged the gas piping.”
Common in older Chicagoland homes: unsupported runs, missing drip legs, flexible connectors through walls, corroded black iron. We’ll tell you which flags are safety issues, which are code housekeeping, and what each costs to clear — in writing, for the inspector.
How it works
We put a gauge on the line and watch it. If it drops, we’re not done — no matter what the fitting looks like.
Describe the smell, the project, or the inspection note. If anything sounds like an active leak, we'll tell you to hang up and call the utility first — that's the right order.
Electronic leak detection and a manometer on the system. We find the exact fitting, or we confirm the system holds — either way, you know.
Repair, re-run, or new line — priced with the permit and inspection where required. Gas work without a permit isn't a discount; it's a problem at resale.
The system holds test pressure before the meter turns back on, appliances are re-lit and checked, and you keep the test results.
Strong smell: leave first and call the utility. Faint, occasional whiff: call us and we’ll test the line properly.
Our Standard
Whether it’s a leak scare at midnight or a dryer hookup you’ve been planning for weeks, you get the same straight answer and the same upfront price.
We find the exact joint
Electronic detection and pressure readings trace the leak to a fitting — so the fix is a repair, not an exploration.
Leak detection included with repair
We’ll tell you when it’s the utility’s job
Leaks before the meter belong to the gas company, and they fix them free. If that’s your situation, we say so — one phone call and you’re done, without paying us.
Free call, straight answer
The number doesn’t move
Quoted in writing before we start — permit and inspection included where required.
Financing available
Sealed, sleeved, and supported
Lines through walls and floors get sleeved, sealed, and supported to code — not zip-tied to a joist and forgotten.
Work area cleaned before we leave
Test results and permit records
Pressure test readings, permit and inspection paperwork, and what was replaced — the file a home sale asks for.

Straight answers
Leave first. Don’t flip switches, don’t unplug anything, don’t start a car in an attached garage. From outside, call your gas utility’s emergency line — in most of DuPage and Kane County that’s Nicor, and they respond around the clock, free. They make it safe; they don’t do the permanent repair. That’s where we come in: test the system, fix what leaked, prove it holds.
In nearly every Chicagoland municipality, yes — new runs and most alterations require a permit and an inspection. That protects you twice: a second set of eyes on work that matters, and a paper trail when you sell. We pull the permit as part of the job. Anyone who offers to skip it is telling you something about the rest of their work.
Yes — grills, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, pool heaters, and standby generators are the most common runs we do. Two things decide the job: total demand, since every BTU downstream changes the pipe sizing, and burial depth for the underground portion, which code sets. Quoted flat after a site look, permit included.
Nothing, if it’s the right kind in the right place — modern connectors are safe for appliance hookups. The problems are old brass connectors from decades back (recalled, and a real hazard), connectors run through walls or floors where they can chafe, and connectors doing the job of hard pipe on long runs. A quick look tells us which you have.
Three tools, in order. An electronic sniffer traces the smell to a neighborhood of fittings. Bubble solution on each joint shows the exact leak. Then a manometer on the whole system proves nothing else is weeping that the nose missed. That last step is the one most often skipped — and the reason we don’t skip it.
The meter is the property line, roughly speaking. Leaks on the street side of the meter — including the buried service line — are the utility’s, fixed free. Everything from the meter into and through your house is yours. Not sure which side your problem is on? Describe it and we’ll tell you straight, even when the answer is “don’t pay us.”
Describe the appliance or read us the inspection note. We’ll tell you what the job involves and what it usually runs — before anyone gets in a truck.
